| 20/2/10 | Dengie and Indoor Show Jumping Show.
This event was held at Brook Farm, Stapleford Abbotts in the indoor arena in conjunction with Havering Pony Club. We had a reasonably good entry and in the Dengie qualifier two EHNPC members qualified - Albert Padfield who won on Dunmore II and Christie Jones on Caspar's Dream, and two from Havering branch too which was pleasing for both branches! Thanks to everyone who helped run the show.
| Results | | 24th Jan 2010 | DENGIE DRESSAGE 2010 The sun shone for us this year at Writtle College and with mainly just our own members entered we ran from 9.30-1pm. Listed judge Dena Green was very complimentary about the standard of riders who managed to look smart and ride nicely even though in some cases ponies weren't being very helpful! Others however, did go well and some good percentages were obtained. Becky House won the largest class of the day, the walk and trot test with 65.4%, on a new ride for her, James, a coloured gelding who maintained a very nice rhythm and was calm and obedient. Emily Kerr was very close behind on 64.6% with Zola. Charlotte Meadows was 3rd on Minky with 63.8% and 4th was Katie Kerr with My Little Humbug on 62.3% The Introductory 2007 was won by Franki Jarvis on Merlin, a native type horse who scored 65.42% narrowly beating Sophie Bryan on Lynchris Sovereign who scored 64.62%. Sophie was also 3rd on her team pony, Byron with 64.17%. Katie Kerr and Charlotte Pegrum tied for 4th place. The Dengie novice qualifier had 6 starters and was won by Lucy Fish with the lovely Piccolo with 66%, just beating Felicity Glass and the big moving Aero Dynamic who had the same total but just two less collective marks which pushed them into second. The first four places qualified, however, so as well as Lucy and Felicity, the nice Dengie Kit Bags and all important envelopes were awarded to Franki Jarvis on Merlin who were 3rd and Sophie Bryan and Byron who were 4th. There were sadly only 3 in the Open Dengie, so all the starters qualified, our one visiting member, Bethany Rose Horobin won on 69.6% with Leonties Double, and Lucy Fish was 2nd on Piccolo with 65.5%. Well done to Katie Ockenden-Evans who scored 63.1 to come 3rd on her young grey pony, Iceford Speedy. Thanks to Dena Green to judged all our classes, to Pud for writing all morning, Grace Trembath who helped Norman with the stewarding, and to Caroline for doing the adding up. Good luck to our members who go to the Area Finals.

| | 20th Sept 2009 | AUTUMN HUNTER TRIAL The sun shone on us at Berwick Farm for our autumn hunter trial and as luck would have it, it even rained the night before which did something to soften the ground for us at least for the first hour or so. This year we incorporated the minimus classes into the main event and used the main gallop instead of the Bluebell Wood or Castle Field as in previous years. With the generous help of course builder, Graham Wallin, we were able to set up three courses and use many of the 2 jumps for the little ones. EHNPC members Saskia Williams (Muffin Man) and Tamara Bull (Black Ice Master) were the winners of the minimus pairs and Megan Bristow won the minimus individual on Mr Mouse. The novice 26 course went to the water and back and the pairs class was won by Lucy Brett (Penny) and Hayley Ketteridge (Jezebel). The novice pony was won by Rachel Mansfield riding Polly, and the novice horse class was won by Rosemary Carlisle riding Whittingham. Without an open class this year, the Intermediate 3 course went out to the far wood and included some challenging fences with easier but time consuming alternatives at the more difficult fences. The intermediate pairs class was won by Jo Pinkerton (Hop Skip and Jump) with her niece, Jade May (Piltown Patch). The intermediate pony class was won by Christie Jones (Caspars Dream). The intermediate horse class was won by Jo Martin on The Merchant Banker. The day ran to time, finished well before dark, and we were mainly able to get the results out nice and quickly except for the novice pony class where we mislaid some fence judging sheets for a while. Thankfully they were found. Huge thanks to all our team, Heather and Poppy for the commentary, Karen and Maria, the collecting ring crew, Lesley for starting everyone, (and Victoria for standing in for a bit), Rob and Pip for timing, Nicola who is magic at organising the cross country fence judges, Chris & Simon on the quad, (not together, obviously), Caroline in the caravan doing the scoring, all our fantastic fence judges, and to Helen and everyone who helped to set up and take down flags etc. Thanks to our caterers, the Galley Slaves, photographer, JNA, and ambulance crew, M&L. Of course the biggest thanks go to Mrs and Mrs Pearl who welcome us so warmly onto their land and support us all the way.
| Results | | 26th Aug 2009 | FUN SHOW - BERWICK FARM 26TH AUG Our fun show was in aid of Farleigh Hospice this year and was a great success. The weather stayed fine, a bit cloudy but the sun did shine a bit and we saw some good riding from our junior and senior members alike.

| | | 30th July 2009 | JUNIOR RALLY PARKVIEW FARM 30TH JULY Over twenty junior members enjoyed a summer rally at Parkview Farm in Waltham Abbey while Senior Camp was in full swing at Moor End. Split into three groups, and under the instruction of Heather, Hayley and Lotte, the children did flatwork, grids, show jumping and XC and also some fun bending poles and gymkhana activities. At lunchtime, the rides were presented with a stable full of safety hazards and had to identify what was wrong and before the afternoon session began, two very strangely dressed new "members Jacqui and Tracey turned up for a lesson with Diane Pegrum and the children were encouraged to point out how their turnout could be improved and to identify what they were doing wrong in the lesson. The day ended with a Treasure Hunt and as everyone found all the clues, rosettes were awarded! Hayley's ride discussing the stable hazards Diane with Jacqui and Tracey Morning rides
| | | 11th July 2009 | TETRATHLON Saturday 11th July at Cross Lees Farm This competition was organised by Liz Parris on behalf of the Essex North branch, and she was helped by her family, using facilities at their lovely farm in Moreton. It was open to both our members and those from other pony club branches. The children had to shoot a pistol at a target, then swim (thanks to the Schwier family for the use of their pool), then they rode round a cross country course on their ponies and finally ran round a field. Several of the children were using the competition as a practice for the Area Tetrathlon in August and others were doing it for the fun and experience and all seemed to have a good time. Many many thanks to everyone who helped and in particular to Liz who was presented with a plant and a bottle of wine by the branch for all her hard work. Here are the results: Class One Mini Boys (8-10yrs) | Class Two Mini Girls (8-10yrs) | Class Three Minimus Boys (12yrs and under) | 1st Alec Parris | 1st Joanna Thorogood | 1st Angus Mclaren | 2nd Fenna Goode | 2nd Florence Collinson | 2nd Albert Padfield | 3rd Edgar Padfield | 3rd Katie Kerr | 3rd Scottie Taylor | 4th Ward Ottley | 4th Millie Smith | 4th Jack Cooke | | 5th Louisa Kenney | | | 6th Anna Moss | | | | | Class Four Minimus Girls (12yrs and under) | Class Six Junior Girls (14yrs and under) | | 1st Rosie Oxlade | 1st Georgina Bray | | 2nd Ciara Walker | 2nd Chloe Brown | | 3rd Saskia Williams | 3rd Alicia Wilkinson | | 4th Ella Caton | 4th Charlotte Barton | | 5th Alex Curran | 5th Francesca Glynn-Fox | |
| | | 24th June 2009 | EVENING DRESSAGE SHOW AT PARKVIEW FARM We picked a sunny warm evening for our evening dressage show on Wed 24th June at Parkview Farm, in Waltham Abbey and several members came along and were very smartly turned out for our judges, Emma Wakefield (with her new puppy!) and Neil HcHugh. Young Bunty Pipe won the first class on her very neat chestnut Little Cool Dude, closely followed by the Pegrum sisters, Charlotte and Amelia. Sophie Bryan won both the introductory and novice classes with her lovely spotted pony Byron, and Carly Woodgate won the intermediate and open classes on her lovely palomino event horse, Blakeney Cowboy. Several other combinations looked very good and all of you are to be commended for coming along and gaining the extra experience of riding the pony club dressage tests. Thankfully, refreshments were provided by Frank in the Ice Cream Van and were very well received, and we were all finished by 9pm. Thanks to Rachel Kellett for giving up her evening to write for both judges and to everyone for coming along and for leaving the place so tidy!
| Results | | 14th June 2009 | SENIOR ONE DAY EVENT - BERWICK FARM Well, we couldnt have hoped for better conditions really, in the week running up to our One Day Event the rain which had been ordered for the Tues-Thurs materialised followed by lovely sunny weather and the day dawned bright and dry and with no wind (unlike last year!) We had ordered a wind-resistant marquee this time, and we got off to a good start on time and from thereon in, everything ran like clockwork. We had a huge army of helpers, judges, stewards and all of those people helped to make it a very successful day. Well done to Rhianna Matthews on Prince Paddy who finished on their fantastic dressage score of 29.3 to win the PC novice section and to Carly Woodgate on Blakeney Cowboy who finished on her dressage score of 26.5 to win the intermediate PC section. Steven Parker won the Open on Moloko with a fabulous XC round to be the only one home in the time. Well done to everyone who competed and to all those who helped out to make it such a success, and thank you to Mr and Mrs Pearl for making us so welcome. JUNIOR ONE DAY EVENT Oh, what terrible weather
!!!!! The heavens opened on that morning, it couldn't have rained any more if it had tried, but our brave and tough junior members turned up to compete (brought by their determined and stalwart parents) and those who stuck it out were rewarded by the sun coming out at about 11am. The old saying "rain before 7, fine before 11" certainly was true that day. Our marvellous host Helen Stonham had arranged the whole thing, just one week after junior camp, and our wonderful Norman Hudson had built a lovely SJ and XC course for the minimus classes and the novices were able to go out on the longer course although we had to take out some fences in the wood that had become slippery with all the rain. Very well done to all those who came along and thank you to everyone who ran the day. Here are the results: Class 1 | Lead Rein | | | Rider | Pony | 1 | Pippa Curran | Sonny | Sp | Beau Ottley |
